Introducing : Mitra Tavakoli

Biography:
Mitra Tavakoli graduated with a first class honours degree in Optometry from Mashad University of Medical Sciences (Mashad-Iran) in 2000. In 2003 she gained an MSc in Optometry from the University of Bradford (UK). She commenced her PhD in 2004 and has been working as a clinical research fellow in the cardiovascular research group and as a part-time lecturer for undergraduate optometry students at the University of Manchester. Mitra won the 3rd Ferdowsi scientific and research festival prize as an exemplary researcher of medical sciences in 2001. She also won the 'Best Medical Essays' inter-university competition where she presented the University of Manchester at the third International Medical Postgraduate conference in Prague in 2006. In 2007 she also won the ARVO Foundation for Eye Research/ Pauline & Oswald Lapp Travel Fellowship as young investigator prize.
